|
Objectives
- To care, protect and rehabilitate the physically and mentally handicapped and the socially disabled constituents for effective social functioning;
- To provide an integrated welfare package to the constituents on the basis of their
needs; and
- To arrest minimize the further determination of the socially disabling/
determinizing conditions of the disadvantage segment of the population at the community level.
Functions and General Work Program
- Formulate, develop and implement plans, program and projects in field of social welfare and development;
- Adopt and develop policies, strategies to ensure effective implementation of programs for social welfare and development;
- Promote, build and strengthen peoples' organization for a self-directing welfare system at the grassroots level;
- Promote, support, and coordinate networks and facilities for the identification and delivery of appropriate interventions to its welfare constituents;
- Promote, support and coordinate the establishment, expansion and maintenance of social welfare facilities, projects and services;
- Facilitate the implementation of programs and services for the disabled, aging and other socially disadvantaged group or individuals particularly those identified to the vulnerable and high-risk to exploitation, abuse and neglect;
- Recommend and implement measures/activities related to social welfare and development services which will improve the livelihood and living conditions of its constituents; and
- Exercise such other powers and perform such other functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinances.
